How to Delete a WordPress Site

The steps for deleting a WordPress site will depend on what package or tool you used to install it. See the different tutorials below:

Deleting WordPress Sites on Managed WordPress or Podcast Websites Packages

WP Enthusiast

WP Professional

WP Professional Plus

Podcast Websites

If you are using a WP Enthusiast, WP Professional, or WP Professional Plus package, then WordPress was installed at the same time that you created your site. However, this added ease means that the tutorial for deleting a WordPress site differs from other hosting packages.

To delete a WordPress site from WP Enthusiast, WP Professional, or WP Professional Plus, follow the steps below:

Please note, once deleted, the WordPress site will be removed from the account. It will no longer be accessible and cannot be recovered. Please be absolutely certain you have all content you wish to keep from the site prior to deleting it.

Choose the tutorial that reflects your ACC interface type:

Not sure what the difference is? See Which ACC Interface Am I Using?

If you are using the Legacy Interface:

  1. Log into the Account Control Center (ACC) at my.pair.com
  2. In the left sidebar, click WordPress
  3. In the drop-down, click List Sites
  4. In the table, click the Nickname of the WordPress site you would like to delete
  5. Click the Delete button
  6. Type the name of the site to delete into the box
  7. Click the Delete Site button

If you are using the New ACC Interface:

  1. Log into the Account Control Center (ACC) at my.pair.com
  2. In the top navigation bar, click WordPress
  3. Find your WordPress site and click its Site Settings icon
  4. Click the Delete button
  5. Type the name of the site to delete into the box

Click the Delete Site button

Uninstalling a PairSIM WordPress Installation

Shared

VPS

Dedicated

PairSIM is a software management software that makes WordPress easy to install on Shared, VPS, and Dedicated packages. If you used this software to install WordPress, follow the steps below to uninstall WordPress from the domain. To delete a domain from your account completely, see Removing a Domain from Shared, VPS, and Dedicated Accounts

  2. In the left sidebar, click PairSIM
  3. In the drop-down, click Software Installation Manager
  4. Under the Software column, click on the WordPress link for the site you'd like to delete.
Tip: If you have more than one site, you can differentiate your sites using the URL column.

  5. On the next page, click Uninstall
  6. Confirm by clicking the Uninstall Software button

If you are using the New ACC Interface:

  1. Log into the Account Control Center (ACC) at my.pair.com
  2. In the top navigation bar, click Domains
  3. Find your website and click its Edit button
  4. In the “Services” section, find Software Installation Manager and click its Edit  button
  5. In the “Currently Installed Software” section, find your WordPress installation and click its Uninstall button
  6. Confirm by clicking the Uninstall Software button

The software will be uninstalled from your domain. Note that this does not remove the domain from your account. It merely uninstalls WordPress from the domain, thus removing any WordPress site hosted there. To delete a domain from your account, see Removing a Domain from Shared, VPS, and Dedicated Accounts

Note: This process will not remove any MySQL databases that were created when WordPress was created. If you wish to remove the databases as well, see our  Deleting Databases in the ACC tutorial.
