The WordPress Dashboard is the first screen you'll see when you log in to your WordPress Admin Panel. The following are some highlights:

Welcome to WordPress

The first time you log in to WordPress, you'll see a box that says "Welcome to WordPress". This box serves as a launchpad for doing some basic tasks to get your site up and running. If you want to dismiss this box and do things at your own pace, simply click on the X in the corner of the box.

Updates

Under the Dashboard heading on the lefthand side of the Admin Panel, you'll see a menu item called Updates. Clicking on this takes you to a summary of the status of your core WordPress, plugins, and themes.

What you're looking for:

"You have the latest version of WordPress." -- This indicates that your core WordPress is up to date.

If you have plugins and themes:

"Your plugins are all up to date." -- This indicates that your plugins are on their latest version.

"Your themes are all up to date." -- This indicates that your themes are on their latest version.

If you don't have any plugins or themes, you'll see a message saying there are no plugins or themes to update.

If you need to update:

If you see available updates, it's advised that you go through the longer update process that we recommend here:
