How to Change Your Site from HTTPS to HTTP

When you add an SSL certificate to a domain on your hosting account, the domain will default to being served over HTTPS. If you do not want your site to use HTTPS to serve your site securely,  you can change the default from HTTPS to HTTP. Just follow the instructions below.

Warning: Search engines are now putting warnings on sites that do not use https.

How to Change Your Site from HTTPS to HTTP on Non-WP Hosting

  1. Log in to the ACC
  2. Click Domains in the left sidebar
  3. Click Manage Your Domain Names in the drop-down
  4. Click the name of the domain that you want to change to HTTP
  5. Find the Change Non-SSL Site Display Option button and click it
  6. Next to When accessing [domain URL], click the box and select Display the site normally
  7. Click the Update button

Your site will now be served over HTTP instead of HTTPS. If you want to change the default at any time, you can repeat these steps, but select Redirect to https://domain.com.

  1. Log in to the ACC
  2. Click WordPress in the left sidebar
  3. Click Manage Domains in the drop-down
  4. Click on the URL of your domain in the Domain column
  5. Scroll down to the Non-SSL Site Display Option section
  6. Next to When accessing http://domain.com: click the box and select Display the site normally
  7. Click Update directly underneath the display options box

Your site will now be served over HTTP instead of HTTPS. If you want to change the default at any time, you can repeat these steps, but select Redirect to https://domain.com.
