Two-Factor Authentication on Pair Accounts

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication, or 2FA, is a security measure that verifies login attempts on your accounts. We've added this feature as an optional security measure to our hosting accounts.

Our two-factor authentication method utilizes a third-party authentication tool. There are various reputable authentication tools out there, such as:

The app you choose will generate codes used to access your account.

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication on Pair Accounts

Before you get started, you will need:

  • Any Pair Hosting Account
  • A Two-Factor Authentication App

To add two-factor authentication to your Pair account, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Pair account at my.pair.com
  2. Click on your username in the top left
  3. In the drop-down, click Manage Two-Factor Authentication
  4. Click Enable Two Factor Authentication
  5. Open your chosen two-factor authentication app, then scan the provided barcode or use the manual set up key to connect. Once connected, the app will display a new code approximately every thirty seconds. This code is used to authenticate your log in.
  6. In the Step 2: Enter Your Account Password text box, input your account password
  7. Go to the authentication app you just connected. Copy the current code into the Step 3: Enter the six-digit code shown by your authenticator app text box
  8. Click Submit
  9. On the next page, take note of your recovery codes. If you ever lose access to your authentication app, you will be required to provide a recovery code in order to regain access. We recommend printing out this list.

Be sure to keep your list of recovery codes in a safe place. You will need these if you ever lose access to your authentication.  Failure to do so may result in total loss of account access.
  10. In the textbox, type "I agree"
  11. Click Submit

Once the setup is complete, you will need to input the authentication code from your chosen authentication app when you log in.

Be sure to keep your list of recovery codes in a safe place. You will need these if you ever lose access to your authentication.  Failure to do so may result in total loss of account access.

Disabling Two-Factor Authentication on Pair Accounts

Want to remove two-factor authentication from your account? You can do so by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Pair account at my.pair.com
  2. Click on your username in the top left
  3. In the drop-down, click Manage Two-Factor Authentication
  4. On the next page, click Disable Two-Factor Authentication
  5. Enter your account password into the text box, then click Submit

This will remove two-factor authentication from your account. It's important to note that if you enable two-factor authentication again in the future, you will need to reconnect your authenticator app to your Pair account. Any codes (authentication codes and recovery codes) associated with the previous connection will no longer work.

The old recovery codes and any authenticator codes generated with the old authentication data will no longer work.
