Accessing Files Securely<\/h3>\n

There is not a separate directory for secure server access. All files in your public_html<\/strong> directory may be accessed securely or through the regular web server by simply changing how you link to them.<\/p>\n

The URL for secure files is very similar to the URL for unencrypted files. Instead of typing http<\/strong> before the URL, type https<\/strong> before the URL to access secure files.<\/p>\n

\n

Note the s<\/strong> after http<\/strong> in the protocol -- if it's not included, access will not be made securely.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

Obtaining a Secure Certificate<\/h3>\n

PairSSL<\/h4>\n

PairSSL certificate service is available in the Account Control Center. To order PairSSL certificate service, <\/span>see Ordering an SSL Certificate Service<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

PairSSL certificates are provided for a one-year period. During that time, they are automatically reissued and reinstalled as needed to remain valid, with no action required on your part. <\/span>As certificate lifespans get shorter across the industry<\/u><\/a>, renewals happen more often and are handled automatically as part of our service.<\/p>\n

Let's Encrypt<\/h4>\n

Let's Encrypt is a free SSL certificate that can be added to your domain from the Account Control Center. These certificates last 90 days, but will automatically be renewed when it expires. Find out how to add Let's Encrypt certificates to your domain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Third-Party Certificate Authority<\/h4>\n

To use a third-party certificate, you'll need to fill out a certificate signing request (\"CSR\") here on our Third Party Certificate Authority Information Form<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Self-Signed Certificates<\/h4>\n

Pair Networks can configure a self-signed certificate for your server. There is no additional charge for the configuration of the self-signed certificate. Contact the Pair Networks SSL team at pairssl@pair.com\u00a0<\/a>to learn more:<\/p>\n

Using SSL with pairsite.com<\/h3>\n

Customers can apply for subdomains of pairsite.com<\/strong>. To learn more, please see the pairsite\u00a0subdomains section of our\u00a0Domain Name Services<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You do not need your own SSL certificate when using a pairsite.com<\/strong> subdomain. Instead, all pairsite subdomains use our pairsite\u2019s wildcard SSL certificate.
