There are server features to turn on SSL and servers that come with SSL enabled, but both still require an SSL certificate to be secure. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it happening to me?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you haven\u2019t purchased an SSL certificate or enabled Let\u2019s Encrypt, then this is the most likely reason your site is insecure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How to fix<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will either need to buy an SSL certificate or enable Let\u2019s Encrypt to secure your website. You can get them in the SSL section of your Account Control Center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<\/div><!-- \/ht-toggle-content -->\r\n    \t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\n<p><a name=\"3\"><\/a><\/p>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\">Your SSL certificate expired<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SSL certificates must be active for your site to be considered secure. When a certificate expires, your site may be marked as not secure.<\/p>\n<p>For PairSSL certificates provided by Pair Networks, reissuing and reinstallation are handled automatically during the service period. If the PairSSL certificate service is not renewed, the certificate will expire and must be replaced.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">    \t\t<\/p>\n<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--info   hts-messages--withicon \"   >\n<p>\n    \t\t\t\t\tLet\u2019s Encrypt certificates renew automatically, so this is unlikely to be the cause for Let\u2019s Encrypt certificate problems, unless you have made recent changes to your domain configuration.    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages --><br \/>\n    \t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it happening to me?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check the SSL section in your Account Control Center. The SSL interface keeps track of your certificates and will tell you when one is expired. See <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pair.com\/support\/kb\/e-commerce-using-ssl\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using SSL<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How to fix<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If your SSL certificate has expired, you will need to restore SSL on your domain. This may involve renewing your SSL certificate service or setting up a new certificate, such as Let\u2019s Encrypt.<\/p>\n<p>If you are using PairSSL, make sure your certificate service is active. Once renewed, the certificate will be reissued and installed automatically.<\/p>\n<p>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<\/div><!-- \/ht-toggle-content -->\r\n    \t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\n<p><a name=\"4\"><\/a><\/p>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\">Non-Secure Links\/Resources<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-secure links or resources can cause the page to be flagged as non-secure, even if it has an SSL certificate.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Things you need to make sure are secure are:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Images<\/li>\n<li>Cascading style sheets (CSS)<\/li>\n<li>Javascript<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can check to see if these things are secure by checking how they're linked in your code. Secure external links begin with <i>http<\/i><b><i>s<\/i><\/b>, while non-secure links begin with <i>http<\/i>. Local content that uses a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pair.com\/support\/kb\/troubleshooting-broken-links\/#rel&amp;abs\">relative path<\/a>\u00a0will automatically adopt SSL when it is installed on a domain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it happening to me?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If none of the earlier possible reasons were the problem and you have images, CSS, or Javascript files, you should double-check their links. If you see that you have unsecured links, this is most likely the problem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How to fix<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you find any links that are <em>http<\/em>, you need to make them secure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To fix unsecured links, you need to make sure that your HTML code either calls locally hosted elements via a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pair.com\/support\/kb\/troubleshooting-broken-links\/#rel&amp;abs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">relative path<\/a>, such as:<\/p>\n<pre>\/images.logo.png\n\n\/includes\/script.js<\/pre>\n<p>Or, if they're called by their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pair.com\/support\/kb\/troubleshooting-broken-links\/#rel&amp;abs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">absolute path<\/a>, you need to be sure the link includes the <em>http<strong>s<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre>https:\/\/mydomain.com\/images\/logo.png\n\nhttps:\/\/mydomain.com\/includes\/script.js<\/pre>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, if you are using a CDN for resources on your website, you should check the CDN and make sure it is operating over SSL. <\/span><br \/>\n<a name=\"5\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<\/div><!-- \/ht-toggle-content -->\r\n    \t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\">Let\u2019s Encrypt isn\u2019t configured correctly<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Let\u2019s Encrypt certificate process is automatic, making it easier and faster for customers to put Let\u2019s Encrypt on their domain. However, because the process is automatic, adding a Let\u2019s Encrypt certificate isn\u2019t always successful. This could just be a run-of-the-mill error that is fixed on the second attempt or an actual problem with the domain that will keep Let\u2019s Encrypt from installing. If the Let\u2019s Encrypt process reaches ten unsuccessful tries, it will halt the process.<\/p>\n<p>However, Let\u2019s Encrypt is still enabled on your domain. It may look like your certificate was successfully generated, but it was not.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it happening to me?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can go to the SSL section of your Account Control Center and check your domain. See <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pair.com\/support\/kb\/e-commerce-using-ssl\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using SSL<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 Secure domains have a green lock next to their name. Insecure domains have a red lock. If the domain\u2019s lock is still red, but Let\u2019s Encrypt is already enabled, it is likely that your domain was not issued a Let\u2019s Encrypt certificate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Fix it<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the Let\u2019s Encrypt automatic process failed, it is likely that your domain is not configured correctly. Double check your domain and make sure everything is in place.
