Learn how to set a 301 redirect in the Account Control Center:
Sean here. We’re going to go over how to set up a 301 redirect.
Let’s say you’re starting a new website and you want to point your old website to it or redirect the traffic from that old website to the new website. Using an Apache 301 redirect is how you would do it.
So log in to the ACC, click on Files, and then Web. We’ll navigate to the directory of the website that we want to set this up on, click on the directory name, and we’re going to do this in a file called “.htaccess” and you can see that that file doesn’t exist here yet, so we’re going to click on New File.
Up in the top box, here, we’re going to write “.htaccess” there. We go and to do this redirect, you type in: redirect space slash space 301 and then the address of your new site. Then come down and click on Create New File. It returns you to this page. It tells you that “.htaccess” has been saved and you can then click on Return to Directory Listing and you’ll see that the “.htaccess” file now appears in the directory listing and anytime somebody goes to our website, they will be redirected to our new website.
