Using pairCloud Snapshots to Copy a Server

The pairCloud service is ending on November 1, 2018.

You must have Live Snapshots enabled for your server. To see pricing for Live Snapshots, please visit the pairCloud product page.

You will need at least one snapshot to serve as the "template" for new servers you want to create.

Creating the Template

You will need to have at least one snapshot from which to create new servers.

Set up the server the way you want it. For example, you could install a LAMP stack.

Once your server is running and set up the way you'd like, take a snapshot, as follows:

  1. Log in to the ACC
  2. Select Manage pairCloud Servers from the pairCloud menu
  3. Click on the name of the server you would like to enable Live Snapshots on
  4. You will be taken to the Manage Server interface for the selected server
  5. Click on the Manage Live Snapshots button
  6. In the Manage Live Snapshots interface, enter a name for your snapshot. Optionally enter a description.
  7. Select Create Snapshot

Launching a Server from a Snapshot

Once you've got a snapshot, you can launch new servers from that snapshot as follows:

  1. Log in to the ACC
  2. Select Launch Server from the pairCloud menu
  3. By the Source heading, select Snapshot
  4. You will see a dropdown menu with a list of your available snapshots. Find the snapshot you want to use as a source for your new server.
  5. You can select any flavor that will accomodate your snapshot. Flavors that do not offer enough storage for your snapshot will not be selectable.
  6. Enter a server name
  7. Click on Launch Server

Snapshots may be used as a source for multiple servers.
