Making a Backup

The first step to backing up your server is to take a snapshot, as follows:

  1. Log in to the ACC
  2. Select Manage pairCloud Servers from the pairCloud menu
  3. Click on the name of the server you would like to take a snapshot of
  4. You will be taken to the Manage Server interface for the selected server
  5. Click on the Manage Live Snapshots button
  6. In the Manage Live Snapshots interface, enter a name for your snapshot. Optionally enter a description.
  7. Select Create Snapshot

Recovering Files

Once you’ve got a snapshot, launch a server from the snapshot you want to recover from:

  1. Log in to the ACC
  2. Select Launch Server from the pairCloud menu
  3. By the Source heading, select Snapshot
  4. You will see a dropdown menu with a list of your available snapshots. Find the snapshot you want to use as a source for your new server.
  5. You can select any flavor that will accomodate your snapshot. Flavors that do not offer enough storage for your snapshot will not be selectable.
  6. Enter a server name
  7. Click on Launch Server

When the new server is running, use a tool such as scp to move files from the new server to another server.

When you’re done with the new server, you may terminate it.
