Installing Packages CentOS

We have made these tutorials available for your convenience. However, this tutorial cannot be completed on any of the current hosting packages from pair Networks.

Tutorial

There are a number of software packages maintained for compatibility with CentOS that can be easily installed on your server via the "yum" command. Some common usages of that command are outlined at:

To install a package on your CentOS server, while logged in via ssh, run the following replacing PACKAGE with the official name of the package you would like to install:

sudo yum install PACKAGE

A listing of packages to be installed, including any dependencies, will be displayed. The amount of disk space required for the installation will also be displayed. Enter 'y' to proceed with the installation.

The package will then be installed. That may take a few minutes to finish depending on what is being installed.
